Fast Track QCF/NVQ Level 3 Diploma in Servicing and Maintaining Refrigeration Systems

Introduction

For very experienced refrigeration engineers who need a recognised level 3 qualification we are offering a 'Fast Track City and Guilds 6187-06 NVQ/Diploma option which can be completed in 18 days (subject to a skill scan).

Objective

To achieve the City and Guilds 6187-06 Diploma in Servicing and Maintaining Refrigeration Systems.

Methodology

The elements are divided into a mixture of remote learning sessions (via Teams), self study and attendance at PRTC to complete on line exams and practical work.

To achieve the diploma candidates will need to successfully complete all the elements.

Training sessions are timetabled as follows:

• Day 1 – Enrolment/induction into scheme. Discussion of assignment, underpinning knowledge and unit 303 – Organise Resources. Remote via Teams.
• Day 2 – NVQ Guidance / work based reports. Remote via Teams.
• Day 3 – NVQ Guidance / work based reports. Feedback, cross-referencing to standards. Remote via Teams.
• Day 4 – Cross-referencing / feedback / recap. Professional discussions x 2 (work based). Remote via Teams.
• Day 5 – Issue reports for professional discussions / issue level 3 technical revision material for home learning. Remote via Teams.
• Days 6 – 10 – Attendance at PRTC for underpinning knowledge. 2 On-line exams, refrigeration technical service, 309, and organise resources, 303, will be taken on day 10. Attendance at PRTC.
• Days 11 – 15 – Attendance at PRTC for practical and theoretical work leading to Electrical units 302/602. On-line exam on day 15. Attendance at PRTC.
• Days 16 – 17 – Cross referencing of portfolio / assessment / verification. Remote via Teams.
• Day 18 – Candidate declaration / signature signing off / completion of course. Remote via Teams.

Synopsis

The course comprises 4 compulsory units:

• Understand and carry out electrical work on RAC systems and components.
• Understand how to organise resources with BSE.
• Understand Halocarbon 'fluorinated' refrigeration service and maintenance techniques.
• Service and maintain Halocarbon 'fluorinated' refrigeration systems.
