About Practical Refrigeration Training
PRTC is an independent training facility for the refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps, and electrical industries.
A large workshop with benches and working refrigeration and air conditioning systems ensures that training can be both ‘practical’ and ‘hands on’. Recently expanded lecture and computer rooms facilitate the theoretical, ‘underpinning’ knowledge and assessments.
Just 10 minutes from the M65, within walking distance of bus and train stations, and within reach of several international airports, there is no need to miss out wherever you are based. A selection of the various hotels available, with links, can be found on our ‘Local Hotels’ page on the left.
For companies with groups of engineers requiring training and suitable facilities we can come to your premises, providing a flexible package to meet your needs.
The Courses: Commercial
Full details can be found on the left but in brief:
• Introduction and Maintenance
• Service and Maintenance and Service, Maintenance and Installation (refrigeration or air-conditioning plant)
• Application and Design
• Refrigerant Handling: ‘F Gas’, Hydrocarbons and Ammonia
• Copper Brazing
• Electrics: Foundation, 18th Edition, PAT Testing, Inspection and Testing
Bespoke courses
Where you have a group of engineers and ‘standard’ isn’t quite right, we are happy to tailor/build a special course to suit you.
On-site training
Where you have a group of engineers and suitable facilities, holding the training on your site can be more cost effective. The refrigerant handling courses are particularly suited to this with our own portable training rigs but others may be possible too. Please contact us for further information.

Working with the Growth Company in Manchester we run the City and Guilds 6090-20/30 ‘Trailblazer’ course.
