SkillFRIDGE comes to PRTC ...

PRTC were delighted to host the penultimate regional heat of the national SkillFRIDGE competition when it was held at our Centre last week. With 6 competitors (including 2 of our own apprentices) and 4 judges it was a busy but successful day:

The SkillFRIDGE 2018 Competition has come to Burnley! PRTC were delighted to host the penultimate regional heat for the RACHP Skills competition which gives talented apprentices around the UK a chance to test their skills and connect with other aspiring young engineers within the industry.
WorldSkills UK is an Industry based set of competitions that test the technical skills of apprentices from across the country and allow them to compete to be the best in their chosen field.

Aimed to help improve apprenticeships and technical education through Skills Competitions, PRTC were pleased to welcome this year’s regional competitors and industry judges.

Registered participants included two of our own apprentices who we were proud to see compete against other gifted individuals:

Competitor, Training Provider and their Company:

Thomas Fearon , PRTC , Source Bioscience

Grant Leniewski , PRTC , Coolbreeze AC Ltd

Simon Codd , Grimsby Institute , Foster Environmental

Sam Gills , Star Refrigeration , Star Refrigeration

Gavin Kidd , Star Refrigeration , Star Refrigeration

James Kemp , Grimsby Institute , EJM Engineering Ltd

A thank you to the industry experts who also took part and had the difficult job of judging: Roger Smith of Agas, Nathan Ormson of Toshiba UK, Mark Forsyth of Coriolis International and Keith Nichols as Consultant.
Once the regional stage is completed all competitors will be ranked according to the scores they received during the heats. Only the top six highest scores from the regional heats will qualify to compete at the national skill competition finals at Worldskills UK LIVE Skill Show for a chance at winning the prestigious individual Gold medal and the SkillFRIDGE Shield.
We wish all our competitors the best of luck in the upcoming competition.
