'F Gas' Update
As you know, anyone handling 'F Gas' refrigerants on static systems must hold a valid 'F Gas' refrigerant handling qualification. This applies to charging, recovering and leak testing and ALL systems, however small!
Proposed changes to F Gas legislation would see everyone BUYING F Gas refrigerants having to produce a valid certificate from 1st January 2015 (only 8 1/2 months away!) The person collecting the refrigerant won't have to be the engineer (from what we've been told so far) but they will have to bring a copy of the engineer's certificate with them before they can take any refrigerant away. Because it would be a legal requirement it would apply to all wholesalers as well as all engineers.
Will this actually happen? We should know in the next few weeks but in the meantime - if you don't hold a valid F Gas qualification PLEASE CONTACT US! If it becomes law, as expected, and everyone waits until December there'll be chaos again and a lot of people will be disappointed - and risk being unable to work.
A much easier solution is to book a course now (only 1, 2 or 3 days for experienced engineers, maximum 5 or 10 days if you're inexperienced)-
- before you get busy in the summer
- before you have no choice
