Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Electrical Training
Another City and Guilds NVQ Diploma 6187 in Refrigeration or Air Conditioning, level 3, is starting in October but places are very limited. Ideal for anyone at this level who needs a recognised qualification (CPD, CSCS card etc) but may not be eligible for funding. Full details on all the options can be found on the left hand side of this website under the course synopses but in a nutshell:
The course
• Block learning, not day release.
• Good hand outs/course notes/guidance.
• Course complete in about 12 months
• Choice of 4 routes (6187-03, 6187-04, 6187-05 or 6187-06).
• Staged payment plan.
• You don't need to already hold a level 2 qualification to take part.
A few essentials:
• You must be experienced and working at this level.
• You must be working in the RAC industry and regularly have access to work appropriate to your chosen route to enable you to gather work based evidence and complete the on site assessments which are part of the course.
• You must be able to commit to one week a month (excluding August). The standard course is made up of 12 one week training sessions and full attendance is essential. A slightly shorter training programme may be possible for highly experienced engineers but if you're scheduled to come in and don't it will be hard to catch up.
With changes to the CSCS card system imminent and recognised qualifications becoming essential this is an ideal opportunity to get ahead and learn a lot in the process.
