Introduction
Brazing is an intrinsic skill in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry and now forms part of the new 'F Gas' refrigerant handling qualiications. This course aims to provide an understanding of brazing and silver soldering techniques as well as an insight into health and safety and the principles of using oxyacetylene brazing equipment.

It also includes the preparation of materials and carrying out test pieces and at the end of the course delegates can take the CITB Pipework and Brazing assessment to either level 2 or level 3.
Objective
To attain a basic understanding of brazing and silver soldering to BS 2871 part 2 and achieve the CITB Pipework and Brazing qualification.
Methodology
The topics will be covered using a combination of presentations with good quality visual aids and practical sessions to learn and develop the necessary skills.

Candidates will be assessed by a practical demonstration and a written paper.
Synopsis
• Safety 1 - the safe handling and storage of gas cylinders
• Safety 2 - selecting the correct equipment and clothing, recognizing fire hazards
• Gases - properties and good working practices
• Brazing materials
• Pipe preparation and jointing equipment
